A quick guide to what The Operator’s Notebook is and where to find what you need.
Who this is for
The Operator's Notebook is for non-technical operators at small B2B companies who are trying to figure out AI without a technical background.
If you’re in operations, marketing, or a sales-adjacent role and you are trying to understand what AI tools are actually useful, how to implement them in a real business, and what the experience of learning this stuff actually looks like, you’re in the right place.
Who I am
I’m Meghan Brenner, COO at JB Sales. I’ve been in financial management and operations for 20 years. I have no technical background. I started this journey because a business problem made it necessary, and I’ve been documenting it ever since.
The full story is on the About page.
Where to start
If you want to understand why I started this:
Read the About page. It tells the full story of how one business problem turned into a full AI learning journey.
If you want to follow along in real time:
Subscribe to The Muddy Middle. Every Tuesday I share what I tried, what worked, and what I’m thinking about next.
If you want to dig into specific topics:
Browse the blog. Everything is organized by topic so you can find what is most relevant to where you are right now.
The three buckets
I organize everything I learn into three categories. You’ll see this framework throughout the site and in every newsletter issue.
Immediately actionable: Things you can do today with minimal setup or learning curve.
Start thinking about: Concepts and tools worth understanding now, even if you’re not ready to implement them yet.
Next phase: Longer-term strategies that require more foundation before they make sense to pursue.
